Organised by the HKSI, title sponsored by Shine Tak Foundation, sponsored by the Sports for Hope Foundation (SFHF) and supported by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) and the Hong Kong Sports Press Association (HKSPA), the 3rd quarter of 2024 awards presentation ceremony of the Outstanding Junior Athletes Awards (OJAA) was held today to acknowledge the achievements of 78 young athletes.
Awards presenters included Mrs Xiao He Yuan Feng, Amy MH, Executive Vice Chairlady, Mr Zhao Rong, Mr Wyman Lee PMSM, FSERA, Mr Alex Lai and Ms Vivian Lee, Director of Hong Kong Shine Tak Foundation; Mr Philip Mok, Honorary Deputy Secretary General of the SF&OC; Mr Raymond Chiu, Chairman of HKSPA; Mr Ron Lee, Director, Community Relations and Marketing of the HKSI.
37 Awardees and 41 Athletes Received Certificate of Appreciation and Merit Respectively
A total of 37 junior athletes from sixteen sports were crowned the OJAA title in the 3rd quarter.

Given my recent foot injury, I did not expect to win in my recent competitions and approached them with a neutral attitude. I believe that as long as I prepare well in all aspects, winning or losing does not matter.” Chan Lap-yan Sky|5th, Boys’ Under-17, 2024 IBSF World Junior Snooker Championships U17 “This award means a lot to me, and I am grateful to my teammates, family and coaches for supporting me in every match. I will continue to work hard to bring glory to Hong Kong and continue to participate in more international events while promoting billiards sports.” Wan Kwok-ho|5th, Boys’ Under-17, 2024 Predator WPA Junior World 10-Ball Championships “Thank you to the Shine Tak Foundation, the HKSI, the Billiard Sports Council of Hong Kong China Limited, the coaches, and my family for their support and guidance.” Wong Hoi-ching Sabrina|Silver, Girls 11-12, IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championships 2024 “First of all, I would like to thank you HKSI for giving me this award, which encourages me a lot. I am also very grateful to the Golf of Association of Hong Kong, China for their support, especially Mr Danny Lai and Mr Tim Tang. They have made me more aware of how to become an outstanding athlete. I have been involved in this sport since I was three years old and have participated in various competitions. My results were a mix of good and bad, but I never thought of giving up for a moment. Because I love this game.” Wesley Chau|4th, Youth - Men 200m Super Lifesaver, Lifesaving World Championships 2024 “Receiving the Outstanding Junior Athlete Awards in the 3rd Quarter of 2024 is an incredible honour that truly motivated me. It is amazing to have my hard work recognised, and it has inspired me to push even harder in 2025.” Ng Cheuk-yan|Bronze, Women’s 100m Breaststroke SB6, Paris 2024 Paralympic Games “I am very grateful to have received the Outstanding Junior Athlete Award once again. I deeply appreciate the recognition of my efforts by the Shine Tak Foundation, which gives me even more motivation. I will continue to pursue my dreams, grow continuously, achieve outstanding results, and win more medals. I hope to receive the honour of being an Outstanding Junior Athlete again in the future.” Lo Ka-kit|Gold, U19 Mixed Doubles, WTT Youth Contender Bangkok 2024 “I am honoured to receive the award. Thank you to the coaches at the HKSI for their guidance. I will continue to work hard to achieve better results.” Lo On-hang|Gold, Boy’s Taijiquan B, 9th World Junior Wushu Championships “Winning the Outstanding Junior Athlete Awards fills me with surprise and gratitude. This recognition motivates me to continue pursuing my dreams, and behind this are the support and encouragement from many people, especially my family, friends, coaches of wushu team, and the Hong Kong China Wushu Union. Their companionship and guidance have allowed me to constantly surpass myself. Thank you to everyone who has supported me!” Wang King-ham|Gold, Girl’s Daoshu A, 9th World Junior Wushu Championships “I am honoured to receive the Outstanding Junior Athlete Awards this time. Thank you for the commend and support from the Hong Kong China Wushu Union, the HKSI, and the Shine Tak Foundation. I will humbly and diligently study and train harder to achieve better results. Thank you!” Hong Kong, China Girl’s Squash Team|5th, Women’s Team, WSF Men’s and Women’s World Junior Team Championships 2024 “I am happy to receive the Outstanding Junior Athlete Awards this time. This is a recognition of our efforts and has boosted our confidence for the upcoming Asian Junior Team Championships in February 2025.” |
In addition, 18 athletes were awarded the Certificate of Merit, including: Lie Hiu-yee (Athletics); Leung Wai-shan (Chinese Chess); Hui Chun-yu and Ng Shuk-yee (Dance Sports); Chan Ying-tung (Finswimming), Li Man-hei (Karatedo); Jerika Kong and Lo Man-hay (Orienteering); Chiu Chloe Sik ji (Roller Sports); Wong Kin-chun and Yim Kai-hong (Shuttlecock); Yeung Hoi-ching (Swimming); Wong Ka-ho and Wong Lok-tung (Triathlon); Hong Kong, China Junior Equestrian Team formed by Ho Yuet-fei Raven; Kevin Shen, Wang Ka-lee Carrie, Zhao Yuting.
23 athletes were awarded the Certificate of Appreciation, including Peng Lixiao Sonia and Thanneermalai Kannappan (Chess); Lee Yat-hei (Hapkido); The Hong Kong, China U16 Women’s Football Team formed by Anna Rose Ming Yeh Chandler, Chan Tsz-yiu, Cheng Ho-ka, Cheng Reina Ming-yee, Cheng Siu-ying, Choi Cheuk-yee, Chong Ching-lam Jaylynn, Chong Hoi-ching, Fung Ting-yin, Hui King-sum, Lee Hong-to, Li Rachel Sun-wai, Moi Lei-ngai, Ng Mikayla Megan, Tang Tsz-wan, Wan Tsz-yau, Wong Hiu-yau Hazel, Wong Tsz-yiu, Yao Katelyn, Yue Annabel Lucy.
The OJAA recognizes the achievements of outstanding local junior athletes under the age of 19 on a quarterly basis. Each winner is presented with a cash prize of HK$5,000, a sports voucher worth HK$2,500 and a certificate. For teams, they will receive a cash award of HK$20,000, a sport voucher worth HK$10,000 and certificates.
Being the Government’s designated organization to provide the high-performance training system for eligible sports, the HKSI is committed to providing an environment in which sports talent can be identified, nurtured, and developed to pursue excellence in the international sporting arena and to inspire potential athletes to pursue a full-time sports career.
