Tier A & Tier B Sports (Para Sports)
To develop elite disability sports in Hong Kong with long-term comprehensive support for athletes with disabilities (AWDs), the HKSAR Government has devised a new Elite Vote Support Scheme (EVSS) for Para Sports with effect from 1 April 2019. Under the EVSS, achievements of athletes at international competitions will be used as the criterion to identify Tier A and Tier B sports to be supported by the HKSI for a period of four years. Review will be conducted every two years which is aligned with the Paralympic Games and Asian Para Games cycles, to provide stable support for sports within the four-year support cycle.
The list of sports currently supported by the HKSI is as follows:
CriteriaNational Sports Associations must be affiliated with the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China or the China Hong Kong Paralympic Committee; Sports with EVSS-PS score of 4 points or above; and Para Sports have been competed in or will be competed in at least three editions of the Paralympic Games since 1997. |
Level of SupportThe HKSI provides funding for the elite training programmes to the NSAs concerned, full sports science and medicine support, and athlete development programmes Athletes will receive Elite Training Grant for AWDs |
