Shine Tak Foundation Outstanding Junior Athlete Awards 2024 Honoured 22 Young Athletes in the 2nd Quarter
Total 11 winners including 8 athletes attended the 2nd quarter ceremony are the Men Junior 4x100m Team consisting Chan Ting-fong James, Chan Yat-lok, Magnus Prostur Johannsson and Kwok Chun-ting (Athletics); Cheung Ching (Gymnastics); Ng Cheuk-yan (Para Swimming - Physical Disability); Lau Chiu-yee (Para Swimming - Intellectual Disability) and Chiu Chloe Sik Ji (Roller Sports). Angel Chen (Equestrian) was awarded the Certificate of Merit. Organised by HKSI, title sponsored by Shine Tak Foundation, sponsored by the Sports for Hope Foundation (SFHF) and supported by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) and the Hong Kong Sports Press Association (HKSPA), the 2nd quarter of 2024 awards presentation ceremony of the Outstanding Junior Athletes Awards (OJAA) was held today to acknowledge the achievements of 22 young athletes.
Awards presenters included Mrs Christy Tung JP, Chairlady, Mr Jeffrey Wong, Vice Chairman, Mr William Leung and Mr Jhonny Leung Huang, Director of Hong Kong Shine Tak Foundation; Ms Marie Lee, Founder of SFHF; Mr Philip Mok, Honorary Deputy Secretary General of the SF&OC; Mr Raymond Chiu, Chairman, Ms Faye Chui, Vice Chairlady of HKSPA; Mr Ron Lee Director, Community Relations and Marketing and Dr Bryan Lau, Director, Sports Medicine of the HKSI.
11 Awardees and 11 Athletes Received Certificate of Appreciation and Merit Respectively
A total of 11 junior athletes from seven sports were crowned the OJAA title in the 2nd quarter.
The awardees include Men Junior 4x100m Team formed by Chan Ting-fong James, Chan Yat-lok, Magnus Prostur Johannsson and Kwok Chun-ting (Athletics); Chiu Chloe Sik Ji (Roller Sports); Ma Ka-yin Jovi (Tenpin Bowling); Lau Chiu-yee (Para Swimming - Intellectual Disability); Lo Ka-kit and Su Tsz-tung (Table Tennis); Ng Cheuk-yan (Para Swimming - Physical Disability) and Cheung Ching (Gymnastic).
Men Junior 4x100m Team|Gold, Men’s 4x100m Relay, 21st Asian U20 Athletics Championships 2024 “Winning a gold medal at the 21st Asian Athletics Championships on behalf of Hong Kong represents the hard work and team spirit of the team and coaches, proving that our efforts have been rewarded. We would also like to thank the National Sports Association for their continuous support.” MA Ka-yin Jovi|Silver, Boy’s Masters, 23rd Asian Junior Tenpin Bowling Championships “I am thrilled and surprised to be awarded. Thanks for the support from the HKSI, my coaches, teammates and family, I will work even harder to strengthen my skills and get well-prepared for the upcoming competitions.” Lo Ka-kit|Bronze, U19 Mixed Doubles, WTT Youth Contender Puerto Princesa 2024 “I am honoured to receive the award. My sincere thanks to the guidance from my coach and the encouragement from my parents, enabling me to grow. In future, I will work even harder to pursue my goals and strive to achieve my dreams.” Su Tsz-tung|Bronze, U19 Mixed Doubles, WTT Youth Contender Puerto Princesa 2024 “I am glad to receive the Outstanding Junior Athlete Awards for the first time. My sincere thanks to the coaches, teammates and the staffs who provide support. I will keep on fighting and strive to achieve better results.” Ng Cheuk-yan|Gold, Women’s 100m Breaststroke SB4-SB9, SB11-SB14, Citi Para Swimming World Series Singapore 2024 “I am grateful to the Shine Tak Foundation for once again receiving the Outstanding Junior Athlete Awards. I would also thank my coaches for providing guidance and nurturing, affirming my hard work and giving me drive to strive for excellence.” Cheung Ching|Bronze, Men’s Vault – Junior, 2024 Pacific Rim Championships “I feel extremely proud to receive the Outstanding Junior Athlete Awards. In addition, Angel Chen (Equestrian) and Yeung Hoi-ching (Swimming) were awarded the Certificate of Merit for this quarter in recognition of her hard work and sporting performance.
Eleven athletes were awarded the Certificate of Appreciation, including Mak Sai-ting Adam (Swimming); Triathlon Junior Squad Team formed by Sarah Elise Modiano, Petra Stamenovic, Yim Tsun-fung and Yung Pu-chak (Triathlon); Yip King-wai (Athletics); Lui Tsz-ching (Roller Sports); Chelsea Leung and Edward Zhuang (Kendo).
The OJAA recognises the achievements of outstanding local junior athletes under the age of 19 on a quarterly basis. Each winner is presented with a cash prize of HK$5,000, a sports voucher worth HK$2,500 and a certificate. For teams, they will receive a cash award of HK$20,000, a sport voucher worth HK$10,000 and certificates.
Being the Government’s designated organisation to provide the high-performance training system for eligible sports, the HKSI is committed to providing an environment in which sports talent can be identified, nurtured, and developed to pursue excellence in the international sporting arena and to inspire potential athletes to pursue a full-time sports career.
