Organised by the HKSI, title sponsored by Shine Tak Foundation, sponsored by the Sports for Hope Foundation (SFHF) and supported by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) and the Hong Kong Sports Press Association (HKSPA), the 1st quarter awards presentation ceremony of the Outstanding Junior Athletes Awards (OJAA) 2023 was held today to recognise the athletes’ achievements and to mark the beginning of the 2023 edition.

6 Q1 Awardees and 4 Athletes Received Certificate of Merit
A total of six junior athletes from three sports were crowned OJAA title in the 1st quarter. They are Chen Hailin and Wong Shun-yat (Fencing), Cheung Tsun-lok and Chui Ho-bon (HKSAPID-Swimming), Mak Hiu-tung and Emily Polson (Sailing).

“I am grateful and honoured for being awarded, this is just the beginning of our sporting career. Thanks to all the coaches and my parents for their support. I will go Europe for competitions this summer and the last stop is the 29er World Championships in the United Kingdom.”
In addition, four athletes were awarded the Certificate of Merit for this quarter, including Lee Tsz-wai and Yuen Sum-lok (Table Tennis), Chan Yui-fung and Pauline Courret (Triathlon), in recognition of their hard work.
The OJAA recognises the achievements of outstanding local junior athletes under the age of 19 on a quarterly basis. Each winner is presented with a cash prize of HK$5,000, a sports voucher worth HK$2,500 and a certificate. For teams, they will receive a cash award of HK$20,000, a sport voucher worth HK$10,000 and certificates.
Being the Government’s designated organisation to provide the high performance training system for eligible sports, the HKSI is committed to providing an environment in which sports talent can be identified, nurtured, and developed to pursue excellence in the international sporting arena and to inspire potential athletes to pursue a full-time sports career.
