26th Jockey Club Elite Coaches Conference (Beijing)
The annual Jockey Club Elite Coaches Conference is co-organised by the Hong Kong Coaching Committee and All China Sports Federation. It was held this year from 15 to 16 October at Beijing Sport University, the partnership organisation. Speakers from Japan, Singapore, China and Hong Kong were invited to present on the theme “Talent Identification”. Striving to nurture more elites, around 50 Hong Kong coaches from 19 sports were attracted to Beijing for exchanges with the experts and peers.
Ms Vivien Lau Chiang-chu BBS JP (right), Chairman of Hong Kong Coaching Committee and Ms Cao Hui (left), Deputy Director of General Administration of Sport of China warmly greeted each other and exchanged souvenirs. Other guests including Mr Luo Jianbin, Deputy Director, Coordination Division, Science, Education and Anti-Doping Department, General Administration of Sport of China, Mr Xia Lunhao, Vice-president of Beijing Sport University and Professor Cai Youzhi, Dean of Graduate School of Beijing Sport University also attended the Opening Ceremony.
Professor Chen Liren, Vice-President of Beijing Sport University, former Head Coach of China Taekwondo Team revealed the development pathways of athletes in China.
Besides the five different topics of presentation, the organiser has also arranged visits to training of National Trampoline, Rhythmic Gymnastics and Taekwondo Teams. Coaches all observed with intensive concentration.
The performance of National Trampoline Team athlete has amazed the group.
The Hong Kong coaches sat down with the national coaches after the visit. The extended sharing sessions enabled participants to review experiences and ask questions.
In the last session of the conference, coaches went inside the sports science laboratories of the national team. Responsible members explained the functions and contributions of various devices.
