The Applications of Biofeedback in Sport: Interactions Between the Mind and Body
By Ms. Polina Cheng
Every movement consists of physiological and psychological components. Movements are smooth and precise when one is relaxed. Movements are out of control and performance undermined, when one is tensed. Sport Psychologists use many relaxation methods to help/teach athletes to reach the peak performance state and to overcome the competition related stress. How can athletes evaluate their relaxation level and be able to know whether they are breathing correctly or not? Biofeedback would be able to help answering these questions. This presentation will highlight some of the emotion regulation and relaxation techniques using biofeedback in training and research on our scholarship athletes at the Hong Kong Sports Institute.
