Hong Kong delegation achieves a historic result of 7 medals at the 11th National Games
|
Congratulations to the Hong Kong delegation on winning 2 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals, its best ever National Games result, at the 11th National Games held on 16 - 28 October in Shandong, China. Over 200 athletes represented Hong Kong in 25 events at the Games.

The latest issue of HKSI publication Sports Excellence was published on 10 November as a supplement of Ming Pao Daily, bringing news of local elite sports and the work of the HKSI to the public. Seven Scholarship Athletes invited to Microsoft Windows 7 charity event
|
| To celebrate the launch of Windows 7 in Hong Kong, Microsoft Hong Kong invited seven Scholarship Athletes, including Mong Kwan-yi (badminton), Cheng Yuk-han and Yeung Chui-ling (fencing), Yu Chui-yee (wheelchair fencing), Law Hiu-fung and Lee Ka-man (rowing), and Fung Wing-see (wushu), to the “Windows 7 Charity Offer Day” on 24 October. The sale proceeds for 400 sets of Windows 7 Ultimate, which were given out at HK$377 minimum donation, would be donated to the HKSI in support of local athletes in information technology discipline. Accompanied by these seven athletes, Margaret Siu, Head of Coaching Support Services, represented the HKSI to receive the donation at the event. |

World Wushu Champion Cheng Ka-ho wins the title of The Ten Outstanding Young Persons
|
The HKSI would like to congratulate former wushu athlete Cheng Ka-ho for being selected as an awardee of ˇ§The Ten Outstanding Young Persons Selection 2009ˇ¨. Cheng won the World Wushu Championships thrice in 1999, 2003 and 2005, and also grabbed the bronze medal at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan. Over the years, he had made exemplary efforts in the promotion of youth development in Hong Kong. |

The book was published by A & C Black in 2007, and authored by Anita Bean, a registered sports nutritionist highly respected in the UK. The new edition includes a lot of fact boxes and useful tips from leading sportspeople and athletes, as well as high quality photographs. Content is presented in three sections: Section 1: Exercise and nutrition - detailed guidelines on eating, including eating for competition; Section 2: Meal plans - design meal plan, including ready-made meal plans for a range of sports and calorie intake; Section 3: Recipes. All in all, this is a perfect guidebook for anyone who is serious about sport, health and fitness. |
