A seminar on ¡§Success through fitness training¡¨ organised by the Hong Kong Coaching Committee was held on 11 October at the Olympic House. Chiu Kung-cheng from Taiwan revealed his training strategies adopted for the 2004 Athens Olympic gold medallist (Taekwondo ¡V 58kg Men), Chu Mu-yen. Around 130 coaches attended the seminar. |

Central Coast Academy of Sport Managing Director visits HKSI

Ian Robilliard, Managing Director of the Central Coast Academy of Sport, New South Wales, Australia, visited the Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) on 31 October. He exchanged views with the HKSI management on elite training and support services, and toured the HKSI¡¦s elite sports training facilities at its temporary headquarters in Wu Kwai Sha. |

Wong Kam-po promotes Polar's new products

Cyclist Wong Kam-po, the long-term brand endorser of Polar (Hong Kong) since 2002, attended a press conference on 8 October to promote newly-designed heart-rate monitor products. Wong praised the accuracy and all-round features of the heart-rate monitor products and cited them as being one of the essential pieces of equipment to monitor and enhance his sporting performance. |

Mak So-ning participates in the TISSOT Stylis-T launch event

To tie in with the new product series promotion, Swiss TISSOT organised a prize presentation and performance show on 14 October. Local triathlete Mak So-ning was invited to represent the sports sector to receive one of the Stylis-T awards ¡V sports category. Besides the awardees, Barbie Xu, the first endorser of Greater China Region of TISSOT, as well as models, celebrities, and artists were present at the event. |

Published by Elsevier in 2008 and authored by Jari Ylinen, who is the Head of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Medicine at the Jyvaskyla Central Hospital in Finland, the text contains essential knowledge on sports therapy and other manual therapy practice, with full-coloured pictures showing the respective position of the patient and the therapist, and dual-coloured anatomical pictures showing muscles involved in each stretching. As the text examines the principles and the application of stretching theory, it is a very handy reference for sports medicine professionals. |
