Hongkong Bank Foundation Elite Athletes Support Scheme in Coach Education (EASS)
|
To support elite athletes to become accredited coaches, the Hong Kong Coaching Committee organised the “Hongkong Bank Foundation Elite Athletes Support Scheme in Coach Education” (EASS) for the second time during 20 August - 5 September. A total of 15 athletes from rowing, karatedo, tenpin bowling, triathlon, and sports for athletes with disabilities joined the scheme this year. Upon recommendation from respective head coaches, athletes who have achieved a performance level at Point-3 or above according to the Elite Vote Scoring Table can participate in the EASS free of charge. Participating athletes with an attendance rate of at least 80% and successfully passing the examination will be granted a Certificate of Level Two Sports-General Theory (Part-A) Course.
The EASS was first held in 2007-08 with 17 athletes such as rowing athletes Law Hiu-fung, Lee Ka-man and Chow Kwong-wing; wushu athletes Yuen Ka-ying and Law Sum-yin; wheelchair fencing athlete Chan Wing-kin successfully completed the courses which would consider to be an effective channel for nurturing professional coaches locally. |
