Asian Conference on Sport Science 2013
|
The HKSI will host the Asian Conference on Sport Science (ACSS) 2013 on 25 - 26 October 2013. The Conference is jointly organised by China Institute of Sport Science, (CISS), Japan Institute of Sports Sciences (JISS) and Korea Institute of Sport Science (KISS). The theme of the Conference is :Sport science and elite training programme for world class performance;. The objective of the Conference is to bring together researchers, practitioners, and students in the field related to sports science and sports medicine, sports information professionals, coaches, physical education teachers, athletes, and sports administrators to exchange ideas and stimulate discussion in the area.
This will be a great opportunity to meet new peers and share the latest knowledge in the area. We cordially invite you to join us. Frequent international sports exchanges at HKSI
|
With the HKSI Redevelopment Project entering its final stage and the completion of a number of new world-class training facilities under the Project, the HKSI has been attracting increasing numbers of visitors from overseas and the Mainland for exchanges. Visitors included the Chinese Olympic medal-winning swimmer Sun Yang from late June to mid July, during which he trained at the HKSI・s new 52m international standard indoor swimming pool and other facilities to prepare for the World Swimming Championships.
The Malaysia badminton team, including men・s singles world number one player Lee Chong-wei, also made a visit to the HKSI in early August to exchange and train with the Hong Kong badminton team in preparation for the BWF World Championships. :Meet the media; sessions were held for both teams during the period.
On 24 July, the HKSI received over 100 participants of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Summer Sports Camp for Youth, arranged by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, for a tour of the elite training facilities. |

NSCA President visits HKSI
|
Dr Steven Fleck, President of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) visited HKSI on 30 July. In addition to touring the training facilities, he met with Dr Raymond So, Director of Elite Training Science and Technology of the HKSI, and sport science and medicine professionals to gain an understanding of the Institute・s operations and elite training in Hong Kong. Dr Fleck was impressed with the modern and extensive training facilities, and the quality and range of sport science and medicine services provided. He would provide full support to collaboration initiatives between the HKSI and the NSCA in the near future.

Shanghai Sports Institute delegation visits HKSI
|
Under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Shanghai Sports Institute (SSI) and the HKSI, a 20-member delegation from SSI visited the HKSI on 15-19 July. During the five-day visit, the group gained a good understanding of the strength training service provided by the HKSI to elite athletes through lectures and demonstrations presented by the HKSI's strength and conditioning coaches. Through exchange programmes under the agreement, both institutes aimed to improve the professional standards in strength training in both mainland China and Hong Kong. |

Au siblings participate in Sport For All Day
|
To further promote the Sport for All campaign, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department invited squash players Au Wing-chi and Au Chun-ming to participate in a promotional video shooting on 18 July. The themes of this year are “Lifestyles in Sport” and “Parent-child and Family Sport”, aiming to encourage members of the public to actively take part in sports and physical activities together with their family members and nurture a sporting culture in families. |

Yu Chui-yee promotes Healthy Exercise for All campaign
|
Wheelchair fencer Yu Chui-yee was invited to become a fitness ambassador for the Healthy Exercise for All campaign and take part in a promotional video shooting on 16 July. During the shoot she demonstrated a series of health exercise suitable for people with disabilities, motivating them to exercise daily. Co-organised by the Leisure and Culture Services Department and Department of Health, the campaign aims to encourage all citizens to do fitness exercise. |

This book is written by R.T. Floyd, a professor who has been teaching numerous courses in physical education and athletic training in the university since 1980. The text explains human anatomy and its relation to muscle movement. It also shows the exercises that strengthen and develop muscle groups and specific muscles. New illustrations and high quality pictures have been added with Q&A section and exercises revised in this edition. A website for online learning with additional resources is provided. The logical presentation and concise writing style of this book give readers precise knowledge of structural kinesiology. |
