Asian Conference on Sport Science 2013

The Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) will host the Asian Conference on Sport Science (ACSS) 2013 on 25 - 26 October 2013. The Conference is jointly organised by China Institute of Sport Science, (CISS), Japan Institute of Sports Sciences (JISS) and Korea Institute of Sport Science (KISS). The theme of the Conference is ¡§Sport science and elite training programme for world class performance¡¨. The objective of the Conference is to bring together researchers, practitioners, and students in the field related to sports science and sports medicine, sports information professionals, coaches, physical education teachers, athletes, and sports administrators to exchange ideas and stimulate discussion in the area.

Continuing Coach Education Programme

In order to update and enrich sports related software knowledge among coaches, the Hong Kong Coaching Committee organised a seminar on ¡§How to Use Apps and Software to Enhance Sports Coaching¡¨ on 13 June at the Heung Yee Kuk Building. HKSI Rowing Coach Sam Wong, shared and demonstrated how to make use of relevant software on sports training with around 400 participants. |

Shuttler Yip Pui-yin was invited by Samsung Electronics Hong Kong Co Ltd to the ¡§2013 Olympic Day cum Olympic Day Run¡¨ promotional event held on 23 June, where she played games with participants and encouraged them to do more exercise. The ¡§2013 Olympic Day cum Olympic Day Run¡¨ was organised by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China and subvented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. In recognition of her excellent sporting achievements, squash player Au Wing-chi was awarded ¡§Prince Jewellery & Watch Elite Award¡¨ at a presentation ceremony on 23 June, where she shared her happiness with all guests. The organiser Prince Jewellery & Watch Company presented trophies to six winners from different sectors to recognise their distinguished achievements in the community. Apart from Au Wing-chi, other recipients included Joey Yung, Miriam Yeung, Tavia Yeung, Eric Tsang and Heifer International - Hong Kong. |

Fencers Cheung Siu-lun and Nicholas Choi were invited to participate in the ¡§Symposium on Technology Crime¡¨ on 24 June organised by the Hong Kong Police Force, which aimed to increase awareness of prevention of technology crime among the youth. The fencers are also appointed as teenage ambassador of anti-crime at the event. |
