A seminar on ˇ§Prevention of Sudden Death in Sportsˇ¨ under the Hongkong Bank Foundation Continuing Coach Education Programme was organised by the Hong Kong Coaching Committee on 8 June 2012 at the HKU SPACE - Kowloon East Campus. Dr Gary Mak, Honorary Cardiology Consultant of the Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI), shared on the issue of sudden death with over 300 accredited coaches. |

UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office Minister visits Hong Kong

Mr Jeremy Browne MP, UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office Minister for the Far East, visited Hong Kong on 6 July. During his visit, he was received by Mr Tsang Tak-sing, Secretary for Home Affairs; Mr Timothy Fok, President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China; Mrs Jenny Fung, Chairman of the Hong Kong Paralympic Committee & Sports Association for the Physically Disabled; and Mr Carlson Tong Ka-shing, Chairman of the Hong Kong Sports Institute at the HKSI, where he also met Hong Kong badminton and table tennis athletes, had a quick game of table tennis with them and wish them luck for the London Olympic and Paralympic Games. |

Three representatives from the Singapore Sports Institute (SSI) visited the HKSI on 26 June. They exchanged views with the HKSI administration and sports science and medicine professionals on elite training and support services, and toured the HKSI's elite sports training facilities as well as the construction sites. |

They toured the elite training facilities and met with the HKSI Management to gain an understanding of the HKSI’s work in supporting Hong Kong athletes. |
