Representatives from HKJC and HKUST visit HKSI

A delegation of The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC), led by its Chairman Mr T. Brian Stevenson SBS JP, visited the HKSI on 11 March. Apart from attending the HKSI New Year Luncheon, Mr Stevenson also toured the HKSI’s facilities in the company of HKSI Chairman Mr Carlson Tong Ka-shing JP to gain an understanding of the training of Hong Kong’s elite athletes. On 13 March, the HKSI also received a visit by Dr Roger Levermore, Visting Associate Professor of the Department of Management of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). |

Squash player Au Wing-chi and fencer Cheung Siu-lun were invited to share at the ¡§A.S. Watson Group Hong Kong Student Sports Awards¡¨ presentation on 10 March, where they shared their life experience with hundreds of students and encouraged them to try more disciplines and develop sporting talent. |

Yu Chui-yee shares at Sun Life Financial and Belle International staff seminars

The inspiring story of wheelchair fencer Yu Chui-yee is a good example to motivate staff morale. She was invited by Sun Life Financial Hong Kong and Belle International to attend their staff seminars on 20 March and 3 April respectively, where the participants received positive energy through her sharings to face new challenges ahead. |

The author, a non-professional athlete, ran his first marathon in 1998 when he was forty-three. Since then, he completed numerous marathons in various cities located around the world and also had successfully finished eleven Ironman in six continents. This guide is written for sport coaches and physical educators who train athletes with disabilities. The guide is organised into two parts. Part one first addresses training programme planning and implementation. Part two covers sport skills, and modifications required to address different needs and abilities of athletes. The guide also comes with a DVD which presents games used to teach the sport skills described in the book. This is an ideal reference for professionals working with athletes with disabilities, and for those preparing to become sport coaches and physical educators.
