The latest issue of Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) publication Sports Excellence was published on 30 March as a supplement of Ming Pao Daily, bringing news of local elite sports and the work of the HKSI to the public. HKSI congratulates cyclist Wong Kam-po Honorary Fellow of The Hong Kong Institution of Education
Hong Kong cyclist Wong Kam-po was conferred as an Honorary Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Education on 25 March in recognition of his distinguished performance in cycling. A locally trained, world-class cyclist, Wong has won medals and honours at many major international cycling competitions, and is a three-time champion in the men¡¦s individual road race at the National Games in 1997, 2001 and 2009; the first Chinese champion of the 15km scratch race at the UCI Track World Championships in 2007; and the champion of men¡¦s individual road race at the Asian Games in 1998 and 2006. The HKSI sends the heartiest congratulations to Wong Kam-po.

Local athletes recognised at Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards

Organised by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, the Bank of China Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards 2009 Presentation Ceremony was held on 11 March to recognise local athletes with outstanding performance in 2009. BMX athlete Steven Wong, who won the first gold medal for Hong Kong in the East Asian Games last year, was awarded the most coveted “Bank of China (Hong Kong) Best of the Best Hong Kong Sports Stars Award”. The HKSI congratulates to all the winning athletes, and hopes that they will continue to achieve outstanding results for Hong Kong in this year’s Asian Games, Asian Para Games and other international competitions.
