- International Scientific Symposium - Elite young athletes: biopsychosocial approaches to sporting excellence
The Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) is organising an International Scientific Symposium on 15 - 16 March 2008. World-class professionals from USA, UK, Australia, Mainland China and Hong Kong have been invited to present lectures and conduct practical sessions at this symposium. In addition, participants are invited to present a paper on related topics for sharing with others. Monthly wallpaper calendar featuring athletes available for download

To boost youngsters' interest in sports and local athletes, the Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) has collaborated with the RTHK Teen Power to produce an electronic monthly wallpaper calendar for 2008. The calendar features athletes of 11 elite and two disabled sports as well as the RTHK Teen Power web-Js. New wallpapers featuring different athletes will be uploaded to the RTHK Teen Power website each month for the public to download.
The calendar for February 2008 is now available for download at http://www.teenpower.rthk.org.hk/teenspecial/2008wallpaper, in which you can view the champion table tennis duo Li Ching and Ko Lai-chak. |
NOW News Channel interviews athletes on their preparation for the Olympics

NOW News Channel featured four elite athletes on their preparation for the Olympics in its "Hong Kong Athletes Series" in "NNC Magazine". They were Tang Wang-yip, Mak So-ning, Ko Lai-chak and Chow Tsz-ki. The live interviews were broadcast from 10:30am to 11:00am on 2, 3, 4 and 15 January respectively. |

HKSI New Year Luncheon
|
The 2008 Beijing Olympic and Paralymic Games are close, the HKSI believes that it will be a challenging year for the sports sector. To start the new year, the HKSI Board of Directors hosted a New Year Luncheon on 28 January 2008 to get together with officials of elite and disabled sports National Sports Associations (NSAs), and to exchange ideas on sports development and athlete training. At the luncheon, Dr Eric Li, Chairman of the HKSI, thanked the Government and NSAs for their tremendous support to the HKSI and athletes over the year, and wished continuous collaboration for a better preparation of elite athletes to achieve excellence in the international sporting arena.

International Scientific Symposium - Elite young athletes: biopsychosocial approaches to sporting excellence

The HKSI is organising a 2-day International Scientific Symposium (ISS) to be held on 15-16 March 2008 in Hong Kong, with the main theme being "Elite young athletes: biopsychosocial approaches to sporting excellence".
The 2-day event will bring together international and local experts to share the latest knowledge on evidence-based best practice in nurturing and empowering young gifted athletes to excel through systematic programmes geared toward their specific developmental needs.
In addition to keynote lectures, there will be a symposium on preventing burnout in elite young athletes, workshops, and free papers presented by participants. We cordially invite you to join us.
